What is Mahashivaratri?

Mahashivaratri is an annual festival dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Unlike most Hindu festivals which are celebrated during the day, the Maha Shivaratri is celebrated at night. It is a peaceful event notable for its introspective focus, fasting, meditation on Shiva, self study, social harmony and an all night vigil at Shiva temples. I celebrated with my little one by lighting a diya in the morning and teaching him about Lord Shiva. Then we sat down together to color the Shiva page out of the Desi Babies coloring book, My First Indian Coloring Book. Spring Craft Activity!

Is it me or are we having Spring weather in February?! I am not complaining, and neither is my doggie Taj, who is definitely pleased to finally spend time outdoors. This is an incredibly fun AND CHEAP crafts activity to do with your little one! Materials: Multicolored Pom Poms- Dollar Store Construction Paper - Dollar Store Green Paint - Crayola non toxic finger paint Elmers Glue Steps: 1. Make handprints of your childs adorable little paws towards the bottom of the construction paper in green- these will be the stems of the flowers 2. Let the paint dry for 20-30 mins 3.
